Florida scooter rider who ran from deputy into woods had meth, scale, cash: report
A Florida man riding a scooter ran into the woods when a deputy stopped him, and methamphetamine was later found in his backpack, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
When James Eugene Hunt was stopped late Friday night in Weeki Wachee operating the motorized scooter, he cooperated at first, then ran into a wooded area, the sheriff’s office said.
A deputy caught him and “escorted him to the ground” after a “short struggle” before arresting him.
Along with meth, Hunt’s backpack also had a scale and several plastic baggies, and he also had $905 in cash on him, deputies said.
Hunt was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended or revoked, and resisting without violence.
