A 45-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday on a murder charge, accused in connection with a 2018 deadly shooting on West Colonial Drive.
Nicole D. Jones, was booked into the Orange County Jail about 2 p.m. on charges of second degree murder with a firearm, shooting from a vehicle and shooting into a vehicle. She accused in the killing of 52-year-old Robin Roundtree, who was shot Sept. 6 while driving on Colonial Drive.
The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. near Mercy Drive. Witnesses told police Roundtree was speeding down the street and turned eastbound onto Colonial when one witness heard a gunshot, OPD said in an email.
Roundtree’s car then veered over the median and into the westbound lanes, where it crashed into another car traveling west, police said.
OPD said Roundtree “may have been followed by one or possibly two vehicles.”
The crash shut down Colonial Drive for several hours.
Police did not provide a possible motive for the shooting or details on what led investigators to suspect Jones.
Jones remains held at the Orange County Jail.
